When I started planning this year’s Dog Wash, I had no idea how many people would be willing to help us out. We pretty much instantly began collecting donations from local businesses to random animal lovers across the country.
Here are some of the amazing people who have donated, and a little sneak peek at what will be raffled off this Saturday:
The Beehive Salon – Islip, NY – http://www.thebeehivesalon.com/
I sent out a donation letter to local businesses months in advance, fully expecting to have to call and remind everyone. Within a week, I received a call from the shelter, saying we got a gift card in the mail. I was shocked on how quickly they mailed it out, and how eager they were to help. From there on, the donations from many other locals kept on coming.
Other local companies who have been so kind as to donate include:
Benson Chiropractic – Islip, NY – http://www.bensonchiropractic.net/ -(This is their second year donating to this event!)
Polished Skincare Lounge – Bayport, NY – http://www.polishedskincare.com/
Kitchen Kabaret – Bay Shore, NY – http://www.kitchenkabaret.com/ordereze/splash/
and Temple of Kings Tattoo and Body Piercing – Bay Shore, NY – https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Temple-of-Kings/190199947663900
(For those who know me and my love -and slight addiction -for tattoos, you could imagine how thrilled I was when the owner of this tattoo shop contacted me unexpectedly, wanting to donated some gift cards and an original painting.)
Aside from these amazing donations, we also had some businesses outside of our Town donate, such as:
Essential Body Work Massage Therapy in Patchogue, NY and Shop Rite in Selden, NY donated either gift cards or baskets. Also donated from outside of our Town, and I mean realllllyyyyy outside of our Town, was some homemade jewelry from one of our friends and facebook followers who lives all the way in Texas!
We love working with businesses in and around our community. They help us and we help them. But we really love when individual people go out of their way to help out too. One of our previous adopters donated a whole bunch of really awesome Skullycandy and Wicked Audio products to be raffled off, all in the name our shelter alumni, Bosco the Boxer!
Other friends and fans have donated too, from baskets to gift cards to shampoo to wash our pups with, and we can’t thank them enough. This year we have so many more baskets to raffle off. And most of them aren’t even pet related. We know you love your pets, but sometimes it’s nice to win something for yourself!
For those looking for something pet specific, we have a great basket donated by Gourmet Treats by Lucky and Max (http://www.gourmettreatsbyluckyandmax.com/index.php.) These homemade dog treats will pamper your pup for sure! There will also be some baskets directly for dogs, or for cats, and Photo Imprints Plus (http://www.photoimprintsplus.com/) will be raffling off one of the photo slates – the perfect way to remember your pet forever.
Everyone at the shelter is thrilled about the community support, especially these incredible donations that will surely help us raise so much money for our animals! We hope you all come down to the shelter to get your dog washed and buy some raffle tickets. Don’t have a dog to wash? Is your dog maybe not comfortable around so many people and other animals? Come down anyway! Come down and hang out with our vendors, get a hot dog for lunch, and buy some raffles!
(Scruff helping me wrap the baskets!)
(Only some of many of the baskets to be raffled!)
(Ticket holders! 23 all together! I expect these all to be full!)
The Dog Wash is Saturday, May 25th, from 12 noon to 3 pm.
See you there!
